Lorson received a grant from the University of Missouri Research Board, funding that was crucial in maintaining his research while his group applied to other sources. He used the UMRB support to help finance his seventeen-person lab staff. “We were able to parlay that UMRB money into over three million dollars of federal money,” he notes.
The UMRB grant allowed us to establish ourselves in new areas. With this support, we were able to win two large NIH awards, which are now the foundation of our lab.
