While studying physics as an undergraduate student, Patterson realized that the field was not for him after reading Third Revolution, a book on psychiatry. As he recalls, “I thought ‘this is really interesting,’ and I ended up transferring to a different college.” Once lured into psychology, he has remained there ever since.
I couldn’t do this study on my own. The UMRB grant allowed me to enlist a graduate student research assistant.
