Deceptive Seduction
According to Martin, there is a thin line between acceptable and unacceptable deception. “Seduction is a great example of this,” he points out. “[It] almost always involves feints, ploys, guises, manipulations,” all elements that can be seen as negative in other contexts. Marriage is one of the places where Socrates’ ideas on love, truth, and goodness rest most heavily.
