The Next Steps
Having completed two books on slaveholding experiences, Mutti Burke intends to explore a different facet of the Missouri Civil War experience in upcoming research: the refugee’s story. “There was the infamous Order Number 11, where the Union general depopulated the Missouri border,” she recalls. “I'd like to find out what happened to those people.”
Teaching and mentoring students takes a tremendous amount of energy. The UMRB allowed me to dedicate time to work on a book manuscript.
